|AB 1194 — Amendments to the Safe Routes to School program|
|Analysis||Current law provides for a program that gives grants to local governments for the purpose of improving traffic safety along common walking routes to public schools. This bill would divert 20% of program funds to education and outreach subprograms. The overall intent of the program is laudible, but is best provided for by local governments, and we should oppose efforts to add state-level dictates about how best to acheive that intent.|
|Status||Passed Assembly. Died in Senate committee.|
