Ron Paul Wins RLCCA Presidential Straw Poll!

SACRAMENTO, CA, March 19, 2011 – Ron Paul won the Presidential straw poll conducted by the Republican Liberty Caucus of California. The straw poll was conducted on Saturday March 19 at the RLCCA booth at the statewide Republican convention held at the Sacramento Hyatt and convention center. Participation was limited to convention delegates, party activists, and registered Republican voters.

2008 presidential candidate and Republican Congressman Ron Paul of Texas won the poll with 17.8%.

“Given that Congressman Paul and the RLC share a common commitment to individual rights, limited government, free enterprise and constitutional principles we are happy with the results,” said RLCCA Chairman John Dennis. “In these times of big government and even bigger deficits, it is exciting to see increased conservative interest in candidates such as Paul.”

Former governor Mitt Romney, who signed Massachusetts’s individual health insurance mandate into law in 2006, came in second with 10.9%. In the 2008 California presidential primary, Romney came in second with 34.6% of the vote.

Former Alaska Governor and 2008 Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin came in third with 7.9%.
